1. Nayak(2001)
Nayak: The Real Hero is one of the best movie based on politics which i personally watch.It is released in 2001 and directed by S.Shankar, and starring Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Amrish Puri, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever and Saurabh Shukla.The film is a remake of S. Shankar's successful Tamil film Mudhalvan(1999).In this film, A man accepts a challenge by the chief minister of Maharashtra to run the state for one day, and such a success of it that soon he is embroiled in political intrigue.It was a feel good movie and got a great reception from the audience. Amrish Puri was his villainous best as the corrupt chief minister of the state. Shivaji Rao to be an ambitious Reporter,working for "QTV" along with his friend Topi.
2.Raajneeti(2010)
Raajneeti is also one of the best movie based on Politics .It is released in 2010 and directed and produced by Prakash Jha and starring Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpayee, Sarah Thompson, Naseeruddin Shah.The film draws parallels to the epic Mahabharata where shades of Krishna ,Arjuna, Bheema, Duryodhana and Karna can be seen in the character portrayed.Critically the movie was well received, and earned about 143 crores at the Box Office.It had portrayed the murkiness and the tricks of politicians and the struggle very well. Asequel of Raajneeti has been declared by Prakash Jha.This movie will cast Katrina Kaif as Powerful Politician.
3.Gulaal(2009)
Gulaal is a Indian Political Crime drama movie which is released in 2009 and directed by Anurag and starring Kay Kay Menon, Raj Singh Chaudhary, Abhimanyu Singh, Deepak Dobriyal, Ayesha Mohan, Jesse Randhawa, Aditya Srivastava, Piyush MIshra, The film explores themes such as pursuit of power, perceived injustices.It was a story of the struggle for power,it showed a gritty underbelly of student politics and secessionist politics in the state of Rajasthan.A taut Script and faultless portrayal of character made the movie a hit among the multiplex crowd.Here Dilip meets Rananjay Singh "Ransa", a prince who despites the idealogies of his father and the aristocracy.Ransa's strightforward and fearless personality has quite an effect on the mild-mannered Dilip.
4.Sarkar(2005)
Sarkar is a Indian dramatic thriller film set in the world of politics directed by Ram Gopal Verma .This film is partially inspired by the The GodFather.It is released in 2005 and starring Amitabh Bachchan, Abhieshek Bachchan, Kay Kay Menon, Katrina Kaif, Anupam Kher, Supriya Pathak and Tanisha Mukherjee. The film was archived at the American Academy of Motion Pictures library. The blockbuster film was premiered at the New York Asian Film Festival.
5.Satyagraha(2013)
Satyagraha is also the best movie based on Politics which I personally watch.The term Satyagraha was coined and developed by Mahatma Gandhi.It is released in 2013 and directed by Prakash Jha and starring Amitabh Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor, Ajay Devgan, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpai, Amrita Rao.Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Dwarka Anand, a man who is a firm believer of truth and an inherent believer of society who wants his son to give back to society and the nation all that they have given him. Manav and Arjun decide to construct a regional party to eliminate corruption and reconstruct the entire system for the welfare of a common man.
6.Yuva(2004)
Yuva (Youth) is an Indian Political drama movie directed by Mani Ratnam and released in 2004.This film was a remake of a Tamil film Aaytha Ezhuthu and is based on the storyline of students entering politics and starring Ajay Devgan, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan ,Vivek Oberoi, Kareena kapoor, Esha Deol, Sonu Sood. The film tells the stories of three young men from completely different strata of society and how one fateful incident on Kolkata's Howrah Bridge which changes their lives forever.It showed the need for revolutionising Indian Politics and the involvement of Youth.It was a story of positive impact of student politics .The soundtrack features six songs by A.R.Rahman, with lyrics by Mehboob.
7.Sarkar Raj(2008)
Sarkar Raj is a 2008 Indian dramatic thriller movie set in the world of politics and crime.It was directed by Ram Gopal Varma.It is the Sequel to Sarkar(2005).The blockbuster film was premiered in the Marche du film section at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival and New york Asian Film Festival.This film features Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai bachchan, Dilip Prabhavalkar, Supriya Pathak. It was an extension to the story of Subhash Nagre's Political clout but with more focus on his son Shankar and Daughter-in-law Anita Rajan.This movie was based on the true political situation prevailing in India.
8.Shool(1999)
Shool is also based on politics and directed by E.Nivas and released in 1999.It is written by Ram Gopal Varma, produced by Ram Gopal Varma and Nitin Manmohan and starring Manoj Bajpai, Sayaji Shinde, Raveena Tandon.The film portray the criminalization of politics in Bihar, and its effect on the life of an honest police officer.The film won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.The film opens with a late-night telephone call from Patna to Yadav's residence that the party he works for has selected another Politician for the ticket this time.
9.Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi(2003)
This movie is a Indian Political based movie directed by Sudhir Mishra in 2003.but released in 2005 .Set against the backdrop of the Indian Emergency. The movie tells the story of three youngsters in the 70s, when India was undergoing massive social and political changes.This movie features Kay Kay Menon, Chitrangada Singh, Shiney Ahuja, Saurabh Shukla, Ram Kapoor.The movie title's is taken from the couplet of Urdu Poet Mirza Ghalib.It went to 12 film festivals in 6 months including Turkey, Estonia, River to River, Berlin, Goa, Edinburgh, India, Dallas,Washington, Bradfort and pacific Rim.
10.Rann(2010)
Rann(Battle) is a Hindi Political drama thriller movie which is directed by Ram Gopal Varma in 2010 and starring Amitabh Bachchan, Sudeep, Ritesh Deshmukh, Paresh Rawal.Rann receive positive reviews, and was premiered at Toronto International Film Festival.Times of India gave the film four stars, and calling it a " riveting experience".Rann is a cliched corrupt politician's chronicle set on the backdrop of the broadcasting business.Overall Rann is quite an inspirational fare.It might just teach you to own up and admit that you were wrong at point.
